Shakespeare Goes to Gravel Gulch
Posted on 11/30/2015

The South Hills High School Performing Arts Department and Children’s Theatre Outreach Program are proud to present, Shakespeare Goes to Gravel Gulch, written by Tim Kelly and adapted by Natalie Byler. This show will mark the continuation of the South Hills Children’s Theatre Outreach tradition established with last year’s production of, A Toby Show: Not Your Average Cinderella Story, a show enjoyed by over 2,000 Covina-Valley School District students, parents, and community members. This year’s show is a children’s melo-drama centered around an eccentric troupe of traveling east coast actors determined to bring culture to the local mining towns of the old west. Unfortunately, Nobel Hart, the leader of the troupe—and our story’s Villain—is both a conceited ham AND a con artist… so it will take all of hero Johnny Lasso’s skills as a Texas Ranger to save the day AND Gravel Gulch! Everyone, aged 8 to 80, will enjoy this Vaudevillian style interactive entertainment that appeals to the “child” in all of us! BOO and HISS the villains, shout YAY for our Heroes, and be ready to “AWE” as Sunny Day and Flenda pull at your heartstrings! Special performance times will be held daily for local elementary and middle schools, and senior centers, and be sure to also reserve your tickets now for our evening performances! The show will run December 8th thru 12th featuring daytime shows at 9:15 and 12:15 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and evening shows at 7:30 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Our Thursday night show is CVUSD night! ALL district employees will be granted one FREE adult admission—just bring your district ID. Tickets will be available at the door for Children 9 and under at $1; Students 10 to 17 w/ASB at $5; and Adults 18 and older at $8. Come be part of this HILARIOUS tradition and support the South Hills Performing Arts at the same time!
