Extra Cash for Class

Congratulations goes to Cypress Elementary School! They were one of only 37 schools from across the country to receive a cash prize in the Big Lots 2013 Lots2Give Video Contest. Schools were asked to submit a short essay and video explaining why their school needed extra cash for their classrooms. The public was invited to vote for their favorite video and over 405,000 votes were submitted nationwide. Cypress was awarded a $2,000 prize based on the votes granted for their creative video. The ceremony took place at the West Covina Big Lots store. Cypress has used this Big Lots monetary resource to purchase iPods for kindergarten reading programs in an effort to realize their instructional technology goals.

Covina-Valley Unified School District wishes to thank Big Lots for their generous support of education, our community and our schools. The District applauds Cypress Elementary for this award!
