AVID Provides College Visits
Posted on 05/22/2013
Covina-Valley Unified School District is committed to the ideal of creating extraordinary futures by supporting the model of a college-going culture. Our district offers Advancement Via Individual Determination, better known as AVID, which is a national system of college readiness designed to impact elementary through higher education students by increasing learning and academic performance.  AVID is specifically designed to aid students in achieving their goal of attending college. One of the components of the AVID program is to provide meaningful and motivational activities.

Covina High School’s sophomore AVID students recently took an extended field trip to visit six colleges in the span of two days.
The trip on May 6th-7th included touring the campuses of Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine, Cal State San Marcos, San Diego State, University of San Diego, and UC San Diego.  The purpose of the trip was to give AVID students exposure to non-local universities they may not have been able to visit in the future.
