C-VUSD has partnered with the Hearst Foundation and Pivot Learning Partners to close the achievement gap of English Learner students. Last month, EL (English Language Learner) students from Lark Ellen and Merwin Elementary, Las Palmas Middle School and Northview High School participated in a specialized training to build their academic leadership skills. Students conducted a survey of their peers to identify goals for their schools to further academic achievement. Through the cycle of inquiry, students will now develop a plan on how best to address these goals and communicate them to their peers. Our EL students in Covina not only speak another language, but they have an opportunity to lead others to academic success! An extraordinary future awaits C-VUSD students.
