Young students throughout the district participate in this annual event, which is a collaboration between the Covina Sunrise Rotary and the C-VUSD. The program pairs community and student volunteers with students for a shopping opportunity at Kmart where students pick out a new uniform and a new outfit, complete with tennis shoes. “We have been doing this program for 21 years in three school districts,” said Rotarian Mr. Jon Pomeroy. “Just yesterday, we outfitted our 31,000th child.”

Mr. Pomeroy went on to explain that the event originally took place in December, but was moved to February to better accommodate everyone involved.  “The holidays are just jammed packed for most people and we found that moving the event worked better for not only the students but our volunteers and Kmart as well.”
