Students at Fairvalley High School received a special treat when Jackie Slater, a retired NFL player, recently stopped in for a visit. Slater spent his entire 20-year career playing for the Rams and was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001. Currently the offensive line coach at Azusa Pacific College, Slater shared his life story and focused on lessons learned with students.  He spoke on the importance of goal setting, taking responsibility, and making good choices.  Students were thrilled and inspired by the professional athlete, said school principal, Dana Craig.  "It was a great opportunity for the students to hear from someone as charismatic and influential as Jackie Slater," he added.  "They were moved by his stories and his success; Jackie reminded them that anything is possible with planning and initiative." The topics he covered included setting goals, being responsible and making good choices. He utilized his life story and NFL experiences to shareout with the students.
