A Toby ShowThe “South Hills Players” and their new theatre director, Ms. Natalie Byler, will debut their first annual Children’s Theatre Outreach Program production of A Toby Show: Not Your Average Cinderella Story, on November 12th through November 15th. This hilarious show, for both children and adults of all ages, premiers on the South Hills High School Stage November 12th, 13th and 14th with morning and early afternoon field trip shows for our local elementary and middle schools. The response to South Hills’ invitation for friendship and laughter was overwhelming and the theatre department is proud to be hosting over 1,500 students from throughout the district for this interactive and highly entertaining production. The show will also open to the public on November 13th, 14th and 15th at 7:30pm and it is our sincere hope that our nighttime shows in the South Hills High School Theatre will be every bit as well attended as the daytime matinees.

Set in the Deep South in the summer of 1915, A Toby Show, written by Aurand Harris and directed by our new South Hills Theatre instructor Natalie Byler, puts a southern, comedic twist on the well-known story of Cinderella. Toby, as performed by Dillon Klena, Gabrielle Medina, and Iva Miller, is an unlikely visitor to the Van Undersquire Mansion and he, along with the other zany characters, will bring you lots of belly laughs using his campy southern humor and even by chasing after Bingo, an invisible—but loveable—dog. This slap-stick melo-drama employs many of the Vaudevillian techniques that were a staple of the time period, complete with hilarious physical comedy and double entendre, and will serve as an entertaining lesson in theatre history as well as a rip-roarin’ good time! Again, evening shows are open to the public, and pre-sale tickets with reserved seating are now available through any Performing Arts Club member or by contacting the South Hills theatre director at or (626) 974-6220 ext. 862126. General admission tickets can also be purchased at the door on a first come first served basis the night of each performance. Prices for pre-sale and general admission tickets are $8 for adults and students w/o ASB, $5 for students w/ASB, and $1 for children under the age of 10. Hope to see ya’ there!!
