Covina Relay for Life - Strength and Hope
Posted on 02/18/2015

The Covina-Valley Unified School District is squaring off with cancer.  For the first time since the local Relay for Life event’s inception, District personnel are signing up and raising money for the C-VUSD’s team “Strength and Hope,” a phrase coined by students at South Hills High School, used to show their pride and support for their school.  The 24-hour event will take place at Covina High School on Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17 and is open to the public.

The Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s premiere fund raising vehicle, which provides funding for research and development in the hope of finding a cure for cancer.  “This is a great cause, and something we want to be a part of,” said C-VUSD Superintendent Catherine Nichols.  “Bringing awareness and needed funding to this deadly disease is critical and we need your support,” added the Superintendent.  The Strength and Hope team has already raised over $1,500 and plans to raise $5,000 prior to the event.  You can help and show your support by joining the team, or by making a donation; contact Robin Wood at 626-974-7000 x2003 for more information.
